Title: A014 - Advancing predictive understanding of climate variability and change associated with air-sea interactions and interbasin connections

Session Description:

In order to improve our predictive understanding of climate variability and change, we need better insights into the underlying atmospheric and oceanic dynamics driving them. In recent years, new opportunities have arisen from advances in numerical modelling and observation-based datasets, which have provided products with much improved accuracy and resolution (e.g. CMIP6, ERA-5), as well as numerous targeted experiments by individual groups. In this session, we welcome abstracts based on observational, numerical or theoretical studies that discuss recent advances in dynamics contributing to a better predictive understanding of climate variability and change. Specific areas of focus include, but are not limited to, local and remote air-sea interaction processes especially those in mid-latitudes, teleconnections through atmospheric and oceanic bridges, and predictability on subseasonal to decadal and longer timescales.

Note that this session (and likely the whole AGU fall meeting) will be held virtually!
