Upon invitation by the Executive Secretary of the North Pacific Marine Science Organization (PICES), CLIVAR joined the PICES-2020 Annual Meeting (virtual) as an observer. The theme of the meeting is “How does 30 years of research on changing North Pacific ecosystems inform the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)?”.

CLIVAR participated in the Physical Oceanography and Climate (POC) Committee meetings, which was organized on September 28-29, 2020, and exchanged the opinions about future collaboration between PICES and CLIVAR.

The call for nominations to CLIVAR panels is now open, with appointment starting in January 2021. Nominations can be submitted online via the nomination form, deadline for the submissions is 23^rd October, 2020. The Climate Service Center Germany (GERICS) invites applications for a Scientific Coordinator to promote and help coordinate regional activities across the range of WCRP science (more about CORA).

The draft of the Tropical Atlantic Observing System (TAOS) Review Report is now available and ready for review. We are expecting that experts and stakeholders will be willing to review and critically assess the draft to provide guidance on how it should be adjusted and improved. 

The 2020 AGU Fall Meeting is going to be held on 7-11 December in San Francisco, USA. In preparation for the meeting, we have compiled a list of sessions that are relevant to the community and convened by CLIVAR Panels, Research Foci and community members.

WCRP is calling for (self-)nominations for membership of the WCRP Joint Scientific Committee (JSC), for a four-year term from 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2024. The deadline for nominations is 15 July 2020.

The monthly telecon for WCRP Joint Planning Staff and International Project Offices (IPOs) was organised on 27 May 2020, chaired by ICPO. Jose Santos, Rupa Kumar Kolli, Jing Li and Liping Yin from ICPO participated in the telecon.
